Description
A good workplace is not only a showpiece, but also the basis of good work.
WORKING CLIMATE – PRODUCTIVITY – MOTIVATION
Bringing office space from the 1980s into the present was the planning task assigned to spado architects.
THE FUTURE OF WORK AND THE CHANGING WORLDS OF WORK - DIGITAL TURN
The latest information technologies such as the Internet, cloud or big data are accelerating the transformation of our environment, the way we work, our business models and our lives. As a counter-movement, the real place and its quality are given a new status.
We are at the beginning of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Technological advances are on an unprecedented scale and nobody knows exactly how we will work in five, ten or fifteen years‘ time.
Employees and companies are still dependent on the territorial office. However, the way it is handled has changed. While small offices were still common in the 1980s, today new hybrid forms are emerging with open, flexible floor plans and functional interior design, complemented by elements of a homely ambience.
Mazda operates an international sales, marketing and logistics organization in Klagenfurt for the wholesale trade of cars and spare parts.
The task was to create a new, clear overall architectural concept for the old office building located in Klagenfurt.
FLEXIBILITY – LIFETIME - OPTIONS
Workflows, organizational structures and the way we work together are changing from hierarchical to team-oriented. Therefore, rooms and functions must also be able to respond to these demands.
In the course of the renovation work, floor plans were simplified, partition walls removed, partially replaced with glass walls and textile curtains, and the route through the building was optimized.
BIOPHILIA
The term biophilia was introduced in terminology by the German-US-American psychoanalyst, philosopher and social psychologist Erich Fromm and means as much as „love of life“ or „love of the living“.
Studies show that plants have a positive effect on their environment. They have a relaxing and stimulating effect on us and make us more optimistic. Indoor plants are not only oxygen suppliers and humidifiers. Some species can even absorb environmental toxins such as formaldehyde, benzene or trichloroethylene.
In the course of the renovation work, the entire building was equipped with a variety of indoor plants in order to benefit from the positive properties of the plants.
HUMAN CORE
High-quality architecture and a pleasant working atmosphere contribute to attracting new employees and increasing productivity.
A clearly communicated identity of the company and attractively designed common areas increase the identification with the company.
Today, people make the difference: creativity, empathy, emotional intelligence and cognitive flexibility are becoming more important. And because a good environment promotes performance and well-being, workplaces become key resources for companies.
With small coffee kitchens on all levels, high-quality meeting areas, a small library, a newly designed canteen where fresh cooking is done every day, etc., these requirements for new office worlds have been translated into architecture.
